Mr. Slimovitch provides legal counsel to individuals and corporations in Quebec in the areas of criminal, penal and Charter of Rights litigation.

 

Mr Slimovitch obtained a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Canadian Politics in 1987 from McGill University, and a law degree from Université Laval in 1990.

 

He has successfully represented clients before all levels of courts including the Supreme Court of Canada where he established the Canadian law governing freedom of religion as well as the law governing the validity of certain search warrants.

 

Highly regarded by the judiciary, the prosecution, and his colleagues for both his intellectual rigor and his strict adherence to ethics, his expertise is highly sought out by clients, and colleagues.  He is frequently called upon by the media because of his ability to clearly analyze current legal matters and explain them in a non technical way. Mr Slimovitch’s practice is located in Montreal.

 

  • Mr Slimovitch currently serves as Vice-president of theLord Reading Law Society, established in 1948
  • Mr Slimovitch was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012recognizing his extensive community leadership.
  • Mr Slimovitch currently acts as National Legal Council forBnai Brith Canada and is a member of its Board of Governors.
  • Since 2012, Mr Slimovitch has been responsible for a criminal law moot court team ofMcGill University.
  • On behalf of theBarreau de Québec, continuing education section, Mr. Slimovitch has taught several criminal law courses
  • Slimovitch is the publisher of a weekly electronic newsletter entitled“Slim’s Criminal Law Newsletter” which reviews criminal law issues in the news
